TUBAN is located in the North Coastal area of East Java.
Its the only place that produce Gedog, traditional woven fabric; The word Gedog came from the sound of the woven tool – Gedog fabric surface is rough not as smooth as ‘mori’ (mori is fabric that usually use for making a piece of ‘Kain Batik’)
The Tuban motif mostly influence by the Chinese in the past; The Chinese came to Nusantara for trading, they brought ceramic plates and bowl and also silk with Hong or Phoenix bird pattern; Sometimes with Chrysantemum flowers (or Seruni in Indonesian), therefore, most of the Batik Tuban pattern using ‘Hong’.
